CHROMASONIC SENSORS

Tekgenuity Limited, in the UK, has developed a new method to detect vehicle tire defects in real time by analyzing the acoustics generated at the tire-road interface. Their technology is based on techniques designed to analyze light [1]. These Chromasonic sensors are capable of detecting and monitoring tire parameters such as imminent catastrophic failure of the tire casing, loss of tire pressure, changes in the tracking angle, damage to the tread area, changes in rolling resistance, objects embedded in the tire, and changes occurring as the tire tread wears.
